U.S. Representative Robin Kelly addressed a range of topics in a series of posts on August 6, 2025, highlighting support for local farmers, concerns over federal funding for public health, and criticism of healthcare policy changes under former President Donald Trump.

In her first post at 19:42 UTC, Kelly acknowledged the efforts of agricultural workers during Farmers Market Week. She wrote, "They work hard, rain or shine, to put fresh, local food on our tables. This #FarmersMarketWeek, let’s celebrate and support the folks who keep our communities strong — from the soil up. "

Later that evening at 21:03 UTC, Kelly commented on a recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) finding regarding former President Donald Trump’s handling of National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funds. She stated, "The GAO has confirmed that Donald Trump illegally diverted NIH research funds, stealing from critical public health projects. Congress must now reaffirm lifesaving work and restore this vital funding."

At 23:03 UTC on the same day, Kelly criticized Trump's legislative actions and budget cuts affecting healthcare in Illinois. She posted, "President Trump’s Big Ugly Law and his cuts to Medicaid and Medicare are exacerbating the healthcare crisis in Illinois, threatening hospitals and patients. He’s making it difficult for hardworking Americans to receive the essential care they need."

Robin Kelly has represented Illinois's 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013. In subsequent elections—including those held in 2014 through 2022—she consistently secured significant majorities against Republican challengers such as Eric Wallace (2014), John Morrow (2016), David Merkle (2018), Theresa Raborn (2020), and Thomas Lynch (2022).
