U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has consistently secured reelection to Congress since 2014, posted a series of statements on August 13, 2025, addressing workers' rights, immigration policy, and economic concerns under the Trump administration.
In her first post of the day, Kelly highlighted her participation at a labor event: "Proud to speak at the A. Philip Randolph Institute's 54th annual education conference. It was a powerful reminder that our fight for workers' rights continues. We have the strength to win — let's use it." (August 13, 2025)
Later that evening, she referenced a collaborative opinion piece with fellow lawmaker Rep. Chuy Garcia regarding immigration policy: "I wrote an op-ed with @RepChuyGarcia proving that Black and Brown people are stronger together against President Trump’s cruel immigration policies. Together, we demand a country that values every life. We cannot — and will not — be divided." (August 13, 2025)
In her final post of the day, Kelly criticized former President Donald Trump's economic policies: "President Trump's tariffs and his Big, Ugly Law are raising the cost of living, not helping. He’s raising inflation—hurting everyday Americans trying to afford groceries, rent, and bills who are already struggling. We need to lower costs for families, not make things worse." (August 13, 2025)
Robin Kelly has represented Illinois in Congress for over a decade and has maintained strong electoral support in her district. In recent elections she won by significant margins: defeating Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote; Theresa Raborn in 2020 with nearly four-fifths; David Merkle in 2018; John Morrow in 2016; and Eric Wallace in 2014—all by wide margins.
