U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who serves Illinois’ largest Democratic district, shared updates and announcements on her Twitter account on August 15, 2025. The posts addressed opportunities for internships, constituent outreach efforts, and commentary on national trade policy.

In a tweet posted at 01:09 UTC on August 15, Kelly highlighted internship openings: "My DC and District Fall Internship Programs are an excellent opportunity for young folks to gain hands-on experience. The deadline to apply is this Friday, August 15th at 11:59 PM CST. Share with anyone who’s interested:https://t.co/8s2oA2Ta0N".

Later that day at 15:13 UTC, she announced upcoming mobile office hours: "I have the largest Democratic district in Illinois, so my office is traveling to you. On September 17, I will have Mobile Office Hours at the Pontiac City Hall. Please come by if you need assistance from my staff with a federal agency! If you have questions, call my Danville https://t.co/KK26mq38b3".

At 17:24 UTC, Kelly commented on U.S. trade policy under the previous administration: "President Trump’s the one who started this short-sighted trade war — and Americans are paying for his tariffs at the check-out counter. https://t.co/qrKo8iILcl".

Robin Kelly has represented her district since winning a special election in 2013 and has secured reelection multiple times by wide margins. In recent general elections, she defeated Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote (67.1%), Theresa Raborn in 2020 with nearly four-fifths of the vote (78.8%), David Merkle in 2018 with more than four-fifths of the vote (81.1%), John Morrow in 2016 with nearly four-fifths of the vote (79.8%), and Eric Wallace in 2014 with almost four-fifths of the vote (78.5%).
