U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has consistently secured re-election to Congress since 2014, recently addressed several national issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On August 17, 2025, Kelly criticized former President Donald Trump’s statements regarding immigration policy and its purported impact on Black Americans. She wrote, "President Trump is fanning the lie that his anti-immigration policies somehow benefit Black people. Let’s not forget: President Trump does not care about Black people.

Later the same day, she commented on legislative efforts affecting federal assistance programs, stating, "President Trump and House Republicans are gutting SNAP and Medicaid with their Big Ugly Law.
They'd rather give handouts to their billionaire friends than help working families."
On August 18, 2025, Kelly shifted focus to education by offering encouragement for the new academic year: "Wishing a fantastic start to the school year for all our students, teachers, and school staff who are heading back to the classroom this week!
Let's make this a great school year filled with learning, growth, and success. I'm rooting for all of you!"
Kelly represents Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District and has demonstrated electoral strength over multiple cycles. In recent elections she won by significant margins: defeating Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote; prevailing against Theresa Raborn in 2020; David Merkle in 2018; John Morrow in 2016; and Eric Wallace in 2014—all by wide percentages exceeding three-quarters of votes cast.
