U.S. Representative Robin Kelly posted a series of tweets on August 18, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies regarding veterans, election practices, and international relations.

In her first tweet at 19:03 UTC, Kelly wrote: "President Trump and his Administration's attacks on working people, including our nation's veterans, are unacceptable. They use vets when it suits their narrative but fail to support them.

VA Secretary Collins must do better to honor the @SEIU bargaining rights agreement."

Later that evening at 21:03 UTC, she addressed election integrity concerns by stating: "President Trump is a cheater. He’s trying to rig elections — first by redistricting and now by banning mail-in ballots, a protected and secure method of voting.

It is terrifying that he’s attacking our democracy from the Oval Office."

At 23:03 UTC the same day, Kelly commented on presidential rhetoric about war and elections with another post: "Let's be clear: starting a war to cancel elections is NOT a joke — especially in a meeting with a leader who’s trying to save his country from Putin’s war. This is a dangerous, reckless vision from the President who wants to be king."

Robin Kelly has served as U.S. Representative for Illinois' 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013. She has consistently secured re-election in subsequent cycles; for example, she won against Thomas Lynch in the 2022 general election with over two-thirds of the vote (67.1%), demonstrating strong support within her district. In previous contests dating back to 2014, she also achieved significant margins of victory against Republican challengers.
