Bourbonnais Public Library District Board of Trustees met July 21.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President David Stejkowski called to order the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Bourbonnais Public Library District at 7 p.m. on July 21, 2025

Trustees Present: Mary Kay Blankestyn, Kate Burgess, Jen Corke-Kafer, Ellen Stringer, David Stejkowski. Laurie Hofman and Jessica Prentkowski were absent

Also Present: Library Director Kelly McCully

Introduction of Visitors and Public Comment: None

Review Agenda for Additions/Changes: None

Consent Agenda- Action:

Approve June 16, 2025 Minutes

Approve Financial Report and Payment of Bills

Approve Check Registers

Blankestyn made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda. Stringer seconded the motion. Burgess, Corke-Kafer, and Stejkowski voted yes. Hofman and Prentkowski were absent.

Officer’s Reports: None

Correspondence & Communications: None

Director’s Report: The concrete project is close to completion. The rain put it behind schedule.

Marketing Supervisor and Circulation Supervisor customized our library’s search catalog. This enhances patrons' experience and links to upcoming programs.

Vital Landscaping installed new salt-resistant plants in the front of the building. We have signed a contract for snow removal for the 2025/2026 winter season with Affordable Lawn Care and Landscaping.

We received $27,500.00 on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from the Illinois Secretary of State to purchase new computers.

The Tentative Budget & Appropriation will be presented for review and approval at the July 2025 board meeting. Our legal counsel, Dennis Walsh, has updated the format of the ordinance to make corporate fund and restricted fund appropriations easier to identify. The public hearing

notice was published in the Daily Journal on Saturday, July 19, 2025. After board approval, the ordinance will be available for inspection until the public hearing that will be held before the next regular board meeting on August 18, 2025; the final Budget & Appropriation Ordinance is scheduled for review and approval on the same date.

Summer Reading Challenge statistics were as expected. The “Dewey Decimated” program was a smashing success.

The library has partnered with RVSRA. Participants play games and socialize in a welcoming space.

Action: Adopt Ordinance 25-03- Tentative budget & Appropriation Ordinance FY 25-26

Stejkowski made a motion to Adopt Ordinance 25-03- Tentative Budget & Appropriation Ordinance FY 25-26. Blankestyn seconded the motion, and it passed with a vote of all ayes of the present trustees.

Action: Set Date for Public Hearing

The date was set for August 18, 2025 at 7 p.m. This was approved unanimously with all present trustees

Action: Adopt Ordinance 25-04- Ordinance Establishing A Special Reserve Fund

Burgess made a motion to Adopt Ordinance 25-04- Ordinance Establishing A Special Reserve Fund. Corke-Kafer seconded the motion, and it passed with a vote of all ayes of the present trustees.

Public Comment: None

Adjournment: Stejkowski made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:31 p.m. Blankestyn seconded the motion, and it passed with a vote of all ayes of the present trustees.
