U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has consistently secured re-election in Illinois congressional races since 2014, addressed a range of political issues in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) between August 25 and August 26, 2025.

On August 25, Kelly criticized recent tariffs, stating, "These tariffs are another example of politics over the people. The real impact is on working families and small businesses, not on fighting drugs. We need policies that actually help our communities."

The following day, she highlighted her participation in an event marking Ukrainian Independence Day alongside Rep. Mike Quigley. In her post from August 26, Kelly wrote: "Yesterday, I joined @RepMikeQuigley to honor Ukrainian Independence Day, and I witnessed Ukrainians’ joy, courage, and resilience.

As someone whose grandmom is from Ukraine, I know that their fight for democracy will persevere

Grateful to have stood with you."

Later that same day, Kelly responded to comments made by former President Donald Trump regarding crime in Chicago. She posted: "Donald Trump's attacks on Chicago are baseless. Crime is down to pre-pandemic levels, yet he calls the city a 'killing field.' What we truly need is federal action on gun violence. He cannot use Chicago as a pawn in his political game."

Kelly has maintained a strong electoral presence in Illinois’s congressional races over the past decade. In the most recent election cycle of 2022, she defeated Thomas Lynch with approximately 67% of the vote; similar margins were recorded against previous opponents Theresa Raborn (2020), David Merkle (2018), John Morrow (2016), and Eric Wallace (2014).
