Robin Kelly calls for action on gun safety and criticizes White House health decisions

U.S. Representative Robin Kelly has recently used her social media platform to address issues of gun safety legislation, public health leadership, and crime reduction in Chicago.

On August 28, 2025, Kelly posted: "Enough is Enough. Americans need stronger federal gun safety laws right now. It is beyond time for my Republican colleagues to reject the gun lobby and offer action instead of empty thoughts and prayers."

Later that day, she commented on a recent change in federal health leadership, writing: "The White House fired CDC Director Susan Monarez, who’s standing her ground on basic scientific truth: Vaccines work. The Trump administration is once again choosing an unqualified anti-vaxxer over this country’s public health. Shameful."

In a subsequent post on August 29, 2025, Kelly addressed crime rates in Chicago and federal intervention: "Chicago has worked hard to make OUR city safer. Crime has fallen to pre-pandemic levels thanks to community-led violence prevention efforts that provide safer paths forward. Robin Kelly has consistently won re-election since first taking office. In the most recent contest in 2022, she defeated Thomas Lynch with 67.1% of the vote; previous elections saw similar margins against other challengers.
