U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has served Illinois’s 2nd congressional district since 2013, posted a series of messages on September 2, 2025, addressing issues ranging from leadership in Congress to suicide prevention and immigrant rights.

In her first post at 19:01 UTC, Kelly acknowledged the contributions of fellow legislator Jerry Nadler. She wrote, "Thank you for your leadership, @repjerrynadler. Your tireless support for the LGBTQ+ community, your work to protect our democracy, and your time as @HouseJudiciary Chair leaves a lasting legacy."

Later that evening at 21:03 UTC, Kelly marked Suicide Prevention Month with a message offering support resources. She stated, "This Suicide Prevention Month, know that you are not alone. If you or someone you love are struggling, call 988 or visit https://t.co/iAQJ5BrKRq for confidential support. "

In her final post of the day at 23:03 UTC—written in Spanish—Kelly addressed the immigrant community amid increased ICE activity in Chicago. She said, "Usted tiene derechos, independientemente de su estatus migratorio. Con el aumento de la actividad de ICE en Chicago, es esencial saber cómo protegerse cuando se encuentra con la aplicación de la ley. Aquí hay algunos pasos clave."

Robin Kelly has consistently secured re-election to Congress over multiple cycles. In recent years she defeated Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote; prior victories include defeating Theresa Raborn in 2020 and David Merkle in 2018 by wide margins.
