U.S. Representative Robin Kelly addressed several issues affecting Chicago in a series of social media posts between September 2 and September 3, 2025. Kelly, who has won multiple general elections by wide margins since 2014, used her platform to discuss immigration enforcement, the potential deployment of the National Guard, and concerns over public health leadership.
On September 2, Kelly posted information aimed at residents of Chicago regarding increased immigration enforcement activities. She wrote: "Know your rights during heightened ICE activity in Chicago. Here are tips to protect yourself and your neighbors from law enforcement, regardless of immigration status." The message included a link to resources for individuals who may be affected by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
Later that evening, on September 3, Kelly voiced opposition to any military involvement in city affairs with a direct statement: "Keep the National Guard out of Chicago."
In another post made on September 3, she criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s suitability for a federal health position, referencing concerns from within his own team: "Even RFK Jr.’s employees don’t believe he’s fit to lead our country’s health department. His anti-vax and anti-science beliefs endanger our public health. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: RFK Jr. is unqualified."
Robin Kelly has represented her district through multiple election cycles with significant majorities each time—defeating Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote, Theresa Raborn in 2020 with nearly four-fifths of the vote, David Merkle in 2018 by more than eighty percent, John Morrow in 2016 with almost eighty percent support, and Eric Wallace in 2014 by more than three-quarters of the vote.
