U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who has a history of electoral victories in Illinois congressional races, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national political issues and actions by the Trump administration.

On September 17, 2025, Kelly called for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, stating: "The Trump administration must release the Epstein files now. We're just one signature away from @RepThomasMassie’s and @RepRoKhanna’s discharge petition moving forward to force a vote on the House floor. Victims deserve justice."

Later that day, she criticized House Republicans over legislative tactics concerning federal spending and healthcare policy. On September 18, 2025, she wrote: "House Republicans took their orders from President Trump to jam through a partisan spending bill that ignores Americans' healthcare. Republicans refuse to negotiate in good faith. Instead, they’re playing a dangerous game with people's health."

In another post on September 18, Kelly responded to reports about potential National Guard deployments in Chicago following similar threats regarding Memphis. She stated: "President Trump has renewed his threats of deploying the National Guard to Chicago after Memphis. Chicago doesn’t need a National Guard occupation. We need funding for proven solutions like community violence intervention programs — funding that President Trump gutted by $66"

Robin Kelly has consistently won her seat in Congress since first being elected in 2013. In recent elections she defeated Thomas Lynch in 2022 with over two-thirds of the vote; previous opponents included Theresa Raborn (2020), David Merkle (2018), John Morrow (2016), and Eric Wallace (2014), each time securing substantial majorities.
