As the summer season ends, Illinois State Representative Jackie Haas has announced preparations for the upcoming fall and winter, including the scheduled veto session in October. Legislators are set to return to Springfield for two weeks to address several pressing issues.
A key topic on the agenda is the rising cost of energy in Illinois. Haas cited concerns about limited energy-generating capacity and growing demand. She stated, "I am hopeful that one of the many bipartisan solutions that have been proposed will finally see action in the General Assembly."
Haas emphasized her office's commitment to serving constituents, saying, "As always, my office is here to serve you at any time! Please do not hesitate to reach out."
Recent community events were also highlighted by Haas. She attended the 2025 Annual Tall Grass Gallery Artists Exhibit and participated in the Kankakee County Fair Breakfast. The Grundy Economic Development Commission recognized over 40 interns from local organizations during a recent dinner, with Haas congratulating them on their efforts.
Haas was named Community Advocate of the Year by the Kankakee Economic Development Corporation Alliance (EDCA) at a recent luncheon. "I was truly honored to be named the Community Advocate of the Year by the Kankakee EDCA at their recent luncheon. I look forward to continuing my work alongside this great organization to better our community!" she said.
National Night Out saw strong participation this year, with a school supply drive resulting in 600 bags distributed to children in District 79.
Infrastructure developments were noted as well. Haas joined officials from the Illinois Department of Transportation for a ceremony marking completion of an intersection project at Illinois 50 and Armour Road in Bradley. According to Haas, "This infrastructure initiative will increase safety and mobility for drivers in the area, along with increasing access to the largest employer in Kankakee County: CSL Behring."
Other events included meetings with farmers at a Will County Farm Bureau event, ribbon cuttings for new educational and transit facilities such as Kumon in Bourbonnais and River Valley Metro, and support for blood drives.
Constituents can request free passes through her office’s Museum Resource Card Request Form for up to four people wishing to visit Chicago museums.
Looking ahead, Haas’s office has scheduled outreach hours throughout September and October at locations including Monee Village Hall and Park Forest Public Library. Another blood drive is planned for October 17 at Bourbonnais Municipal Center.
Haas was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’s 79th House District in 2020, succeeding Lindsay Parkhurst.
