U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, who serves Illinois' 2nd Congressional District, posted a series of tweets between September 23 and 24, 2025, highlighting constituent services and warning of potential impacts from a looming federal government shutdown.

On September 23, Kelly informed constituents about her office’s ability to assist with various federal agencies. Later that day on September 24, Kelly addressed concerns over an impending government shutdown. In her tweet she stated, "Republicans are marching our country toward a shutdown in 7 days. In another post on September 24 directed at both major House caucuses, Kelly shared information regarding health care funding: "@HouseGOP @HouseDemocrats Read more about what health experts predict will happen if Republicans don’t extend the ACA funding for 2026. https://t.co/Bg70ngD9nq".

Robin Kelly has represented Illinois' 2nd Congressional District since winning a special election in 2013 and has been re-elected multiple times by significant margins; for example, she defeated Thomas Lynch in the 2022 general election with approximately 67% of the vote. Her previous victories include defeating Theresa Raborn in 2020 (78.8%), David Merkle in 2018 (81.1%), John Morrow in 2016 (79.8%), and Eric Wallace in 2014 (78.5%).
