City of Watseka City Council met Sept. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Special Called Council Meeting

PRESENT: Mayor Marcier, Aldermen Miller, Dewitt, Petersen, Brault, Muench Alderwoman Rohlfs

ABSENT: Aldermen Pence and Garfield

GUESTS: Police Chief Eric Starkey and Dawn Turcany with the Fire and Police Commission

Mayor Marcier opened the meeting at 6:00 pm. There was a moment of silence in remembrance of 911.

Fire and Police Commission secretary Dawn Turcany swore in Michael Yates as a 3- year lateral officer.

Chief Starkey then said a few words about the job that Sgt. Marcott has done within the police department. Fire and Police Commission secretary Dawn Turcany then swore in Sgt. Curtis Marcot as Lt. Marcott.

Mayor Marcier stated that a motion needs to be made to appoint Lt. Mark Harris as Deputy Chief of Police. Alderman Muench makes a motion to appoint Lt. Mark Harris as Deputy Chief of Police and Alderman Brault seconded. Roll call carried 6-0.

Chief Starkey then said a few words about the job that Lt. Harris has done within the police department. Mayor Marcier then swore in Lt. Harris as Deputy Chief of Police.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:10 with Alderman Muench making the motion and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 6-0.
