Robin Kelly, U.S. Representative for Illinois's 2nd congressional district, addressed several issues in a series of posts on her social media account between October 15 and 16, 2025. Her comments focused on healthcare affordability, agricultural policy, and a recent local emergency.
On October 15, Kelly highlighted concerns about rising healthcare costs, stating, "Without Medicaid, Cynthia can’t afford her 10 necessary medications. She’s not alone. Millions face higher costs as premiums double next year. @HouseDemocrats are working to stop this hike & end the Republican healthcare crisis. The following day, she commented on agricultural trade and federal priorities, writing, "Illinois farmers feed this nation. Yet while our country is shut down, the administration is bailing out Argentina — the same country that took our soybean export markets. President Trump would rather help Argentina than American farmers. https://t.co/BeHXwVWUdP https://t.co/U02QE1sjq8" on October 16.
Later that day, Kelly addressed a local incident involving a grain bin collapse in Martinton, Illinois. She posted, "A grain bin collapsed in Martinton and left 170 people without power yesterday. Grateful no one was injured and to hear that power has been restored. Thank you to the emergency responders who acted quickly to evacuate the area and restore services to the community."
Kelly has represented Illinois's 2nd congressional district since winning a special election in 2013. She has consistently secured re-election by significant margins, including victories over Thomas Lynch in 2022 with 67.1% of the vote, Theresa Raborn in 2020 with 78.8%, David Merkle in 2018 with 81.1%, John Morrow in 2016 with 79.8%, and Eric Wallace in 2014 with 78.5%.
