An event featuring District 79 House of Representatives candidate Bobb Switzer, 40th Senate District candidate Phil Nagel, and former attorney general candidate Tom DeVore, is set to take place on Nov. 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Quality Inn Bradley in the Bristol Room. Devore will provide insights into the latest lawsuits unfolding in Illinois.

“I look forward to seeing you Saturday!” Switzer said on Facebook.

As part of the event, there will be a focus on supporting candidates in these districts by encouraging attendees to sign their petitions. The gathering, aptly themed “Let’s Get Them on the Ballot,” seeks to bolster the democratic process by ensuring that candidates have the necessary support to officially enter the electoral arena.

Commencing on Sept. 5, candidates throughout Illinois initiated the broader election season by gathering signatures for the March 19 primary ballot. According to the deadline stipulated by the State of Illinois, candidate petitions must be submitted to the County Clerk between Monday, Nov. 27 at 8 am and Monday, Dec. 4 at 5 pm. Petitions can be delivered either in person or through the mail.

Alongside local contests, March 19 primary voters in Illinois will select presidential nominees for both Democratic and Republican parties as well as elect delegates for both parties’ conventions scheduled for August.

The district is currently represented by State Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee). It is located mostly in the Chicago area and includes all or parts of Aroma Park, Beecher, Bonfield, Bourbonnais, Braceville, Bradley, Buckingham, Cabery, Chebanse, Coal City, Diamond, East Brooklyn, Essex, Gardner, Godley, Herscher, Hopkins Park, Irwin, Kankakee, Limestone, Momence, Peotone, Reddick, Sammons Point, South Wilmington, St. Anne, Sun River Terrace, and Union Hill.
