Village of Chebanse Village Board met Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Mathy called the Regular Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm on January 15, 2024 and  announced that the Village would be taping the meeting. The following Trustees were present: Trustee  Allen, Trustee Odle, Trustee Perzee, Trustee Randles and Trustee Snyder. Trustee Kohler was absent.  Also present were Mayor Mathy, James Smith from Maintenance and Clerk Pasel.  

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Mathy 

APPROVAL OF BOARD MEETING MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee Odle to approve the December 18, 2023 Board meeting minutes. Vote:

TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Randles to  approve the December 31, 2023 Treasurer’s Report. Vote:

BILL STATEMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve the  Bill Statement for January 15, 2024. Vote:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE 

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: NONE 

REPORTS OF VILLAGE OFFICERS: James reported that the flat part of the Civic Center roof between the  Civic Center and the gym is leaking and needs to be repaired. Langlois will be getting us a quote.  James also reported that they have tried out the movie projector and sound system. Mayor Mathy  stated that we need to make a donation to the Church that gave the projector and screens to us. Mayor  Mathy also stated that the Committee needs to meet and come up with a price to charge for the use of  the sound system, projector and screen.

NEW BUSINESS 

ORDINANCE NO. 2024-01: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Snyder to  approve Ordinance No. 2024-01, An Ordinance Adopting Rules and Regulations Regarding Unscheduled  Intercity Buses. Vote:

FISCAL YEAR 2023 AUDIT: A motion was made by Trustee Snyder and a second by Trustee Perzee to  accept the Fiscal Year 2023 Audit with the correction of the Village of Chebanse owning but not  operating the Community Building. Vote:

PUBLIC COMMENT: NONE 

COMMUNICATIONS: Mayor Mathy stated we have a thank you card from the Kankakee County Sheriff’s  Department thanking the Village for the donation to this year’s Shop with a Cop program, and a thank  you card from Clifton Food Bank thanking us for our donation. He also stated that there is a letter from  State Representative Jason Bunting who will be hosting the next Local Government Advisory Committee  meeting on Friday February 23rd, 2024 if anyone would like to attend.
