Chamber of Commerce to hold entrepreneur boot camp, competition

Businessplan

The Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce will continue a local business tradition by holding its fifth annual Enterprise U Entrepreneurs Boot Camp and Business Plan Competition.

The chamber will kick off this year's event with a public information session at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Kankakee Community College’s North Extension Center.

The program will offer a combination of business plan development help, networking opportunities, free classes at the community college's Small Business Development Center and incentives for businesses who locate themselves within the county.

Finalists in the competition will also be eligible for prizes that include start-up capital, rent-free business locations and professional services.

To be eligible, businesses must be registered for one year or less and pay a $50 entry fee for the competition.

Chamber judges say they are particularly interested in business plans in the fields of hospitality, health and wellness, technology, manufacturing, professional services and retail.

The educational and competitive components of the program will run from the application deadline of Feb. 19 to April 21.
