County approves grant for Momence Packing

The Kankakee County Board approved a grant from its Revolving Loan Fund to Momence Packing at its Dec. 8 meeting.

The local meatpacker will use the money to fund an expansion of its business.

The board also approved Historic Landmark status for the Limestone Cemetery, which was started by and holds the remains of the Hawkins family who founded Kankakee County in the first half of the 19th century.

In personnel news, the board also announced an opening on the Historical Preservation Commission and an opening on the Kankakee County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board.

The board reappointed John Fetherling to the Zoning Board of Appeals and John Adams to the Historic Preservation Commission.

Board members Jim Skutt, Chris Tholen and Mike Hildebrand were absent.
