The Kankakee County Historic Preservation Commission will hold a series of public workshops, starting Jan. 26, in Momence to collect ideas and feedback for a countywide historic preservation plan.
The commission is most interested in hearing residents' nominations for buildings or sites that should be included in a list of local historic places. The commission plans to use that list to guide its preservation agenda and develop its comprehensive plan.
The Jan. 26 meeting in Momence will focus specifically on preservation opportunities in Yellowhead, Momence, Ganeer and Pembroke Townships.
The workshop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Earl D. Schoeffner Memorial Building, located at 105 E. 2nd St.
