Rabanalez-Hernandez wins ONU's first Media Catalyst Scholarship

Radiomic

Daneli Rabanalez-Hernandez was awarded Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) first Media Catalyst Scholarship Thursday.

The scholarship honors the late-ONU Communications professor Carl Fletcher, who passed away in November. Fletcher was also Operations director for the school's Shine.FM station, where Daneli now hosts an evening program called "Shine Evenings." Daneli also helped establish Brilla.FM, the school's Spanish-language Christian music station.

“Occasionally a student comes along with a natural talent and a God-given passion for using his or her gifts to make a difference," General Manager of ONU's Shine.FM broadcast network Brian McIntyre Utter said. "Daneli is such a student. She is truly a catalyst for the kingdom in what she does both with Shine.FM and Brilla.FM. We are so excited for her to be the first student to receive this scholarship and honor the memory of our friend Carl."

The award ceremony was attended by ONU faculty, staff, students and members of the Fletcher family. Those present remembered the professor as a passionate enthusiast of Christian radio.

"Carl was passionate about the impact of Christian radio and training future Christian broadcasters,” Utter said. “The outpouring of tributes by colleagues in the Christian radio industry, and his students past and present, shows what a huge impact Carl had on all of us at Shine.FM and Olivet."
