The Kankakee county board passed its 2014-2015 fiscal budget and a resolution on inter-fund borrowing Feb. 9.
The amended combined annual budget and appropriation ordinance for the 2014-2015 fiscal year passed unanimously, with discussion occurring when Robert Ellington-Snipes and Andrew Wheeler asking for the clarification of grants and a probation item.
The resolution regarding the General Inter-fund Borrowing –Transfer of funds also received more discussion. James Tripp had questions about the money the county owed to the Highway Department. The amount was clarified as $1.5 million, or $2 million with the matching tax, with the goal of paying it back by November.
Wheeler requested clarification that the Health Reimbursement Account included the 20 percent for claims, which the updated version did include. After discussing when the funds would be paid back (by Nov. 30), the resolution passed unanimously.
The board also discussed the upcoming meeting of the Farm Bureau, a UCCI seminar, an upcoming planning and zoning issue and the retirement of Sheriff Timothy Bukowski in April.
