St. Anne President David O'Connell delivered his president's report on Feb. 8.

During his address, O'Connell focused on capital improvements, calling for four to five new fire hydrants to be installed this year and speaking to several degraded buildings in the village.

O'Connell mentioned the building at 167 W. Station St., in particular. He said the village's building committee had developed a procedure for preparing the building for the market and would move forward with those plans, pending village approval.

He also discussed condemned homes on South Sheffield Street and Chicago Avenue. O'Connell said the village is interested in taking steps to demolish the Chicago Avenue house but is willing to consider salvaging the home on South Sheffield Street.

O'Connell said the village was also busy going through the process to bring its streets and facilities into compliance with federal handicapped accessibility standards.
