The City of Momence recently signed a pipeline loan.
The Momence City Council approved a loan through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency on Jan. 18 that will help finance a new water pipeline project on the south side of the city.
The city secured the loan, in part, with a plan to bill residents $7 per month each until the loan is paid off. The fee will be specific to the repayment of the loan and will not be used for any other purpose.
Momence Mayor Mick Porter said residents could also expect a one-time charge of $4.69 on their February bills to compensate for a city error that undercharged residents 67 cents per month since last June.
The council also approved Zack Stetson's promotion to sergeant at a salary of $44,955. Alderman Carrie Navratil was the lone nay vote against the promotion.
