Northern Illinois’ largest natural gas distributor, Nicor Gas, has officially invested $4,000 in the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County’s 2016 work program, officials recently announced in Kankakee, to support the nonprofit’s daily operations and programs.
“The Economic Alliance has made great strides in its business retention and expansion, business attraction, workforce development, and community and regional development efforts,” Bernie Anderson, Nicor’s community relations and economic development manager, said. “The growth Kankakee County is experiencing is a testament, in part, to the diligence of the Alliance and its economic development partners. Nicor Gas is proud to be among them.”
The Economic Alliance of Kankakee County is a public-private partnership striving to improve local business by creating jobs and stimulating the economic base. Structured as an umbrella 501(c)(6) public-private economic development organization for Kankakee County, it works in tandem with the county’s current five-year plan to spur new business development.
In 2015, the Alliance recorded $485 million in capital investment and 796 new jobs countywide. In addition, statistics revealed expansion of physical space by 588,600 square feet within the county.
