Bradley-Bourbonnais High School is currently accepting applications for its spring Athletic Performance Training (APT) program internship.

Qualified candidates will assist school sports staff with after-school strength and conditioning sessions.

The application deadline is Nov. 1, with the interviewing process beginning shortly after. The internship itself would last from January until May. Accepted applicants are expected to stay for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities include assisting the Athletic Training Program staff; executing the program; educating students on proper technique and equipment use; contributing to projects throughout the semester; and maintaining the facility and equipment, including stocking nutritional stations.

This internship is unpaid, but it affords participants tremendous experience and hands-on learning from APT leaders. Some of the biggest subjects covered in the program are warm-ups, strength training and multi-joint movements, speed, agility, mobility, conditioning, nutritional education, testing and evaluations, and athlete assessments.

To qualify, students should be pursuing a degree related to exercise science or physical education. APT wants vocal and energetic leaders with good communication skills. Ability to follow and give direction is required, along with a good attitude and punctual arrival. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel are needed, as well.
