Dr. Kristine Condon will speak on the launch of the Illinois Civics Academy for Teachers at Kankakee Community College (KCC) at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Feb. 8.
The program, a three-day intensive workshop for high school educators from around the state, was held last summer in response to the Illinois State Board of Education social studies curriculum revisions. The program was partially funded by the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.
KCC is hosting the night as part of the school’s 50th Anniversary lecture series with the final presentation, “Going to WAR in Baseball,” at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 and 1 p.m. Feb. 23.
The program will be held on the community college’s downtown campus on River Road off Interstate 57, exit 308.
