Manteno's Kurt Schierholz has been named Employee of the Quarter by the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA).
Schierholz, who earned the honor for the second quarter of the year, received a certificate during a ceremony at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno.
Schierholz was credited with locating 24 Korean War veterans in Illinois who had not received their war medals, IDVA said in a release.
“Kurt is another fine example of the type of employees we have working for our veterans,” IDVA Director Erica Jeffries, who presented the certificate, said in the release. “He is consistent in his work and believes in the IDVA mission of empowering veterans and their families to thrive by assisting them in navigating the system of federal, state and local resources and benefits.”
Employees earn the quarterly awards through recommendations by their co-workers. They are deemed qualified by their “leadership, dedication, innovation and impact of (the employees') work,” the release said.
The winner of the next quarterly award will be announced August 13 at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.
