Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Committee met May 11.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
1) Introductions
2) Public Library Update
a. Friends of the Manteno Public Library are selling cookbooks.
3) Building and Community Updates/2016-2017 Reflection
a. Team Leaders reported on successes and challenges of the 2016-2017 school year.
b. Some of the successes included; meeting deadlines, common assessments, increased communication, and moving forward with NGSS.
c. Some of the challenges included; addressing conflicts, preparing for the switch to traditional schedule, curriculum mapping, and spelling lists.
4) The Energy Bus – Rules 8, 9, and 10
a. Love your passengers
b. Drive with purpose
c. Have fun and enjoy the ride
5) 2016-2017 Reflection (see item 3)
6) Planning for 2017-2018
a. Team leaders were given goal setting sheets and asked to consider how next year’s needs would be met.
b. Goal sheets are due to Cathy Creek by May 26th.
7) May 26th Institute Day
a. The day will begin at 8:00 am and end at approximately 2:00 pm.
b. Snacks will be provided in the lounges at 8:00. The retirements and recognitions ceremony will begin at 1:30.
c. Staff will be given 45 minutes for lunch.
d. The rest of the day will include Individual staff work time and team time. One session should be 2.5 hours, while the other session should be 2 hours and 15 minutes. Agendas are due to Cathy Creek by May 19th. Staff is encouraged to use this time wisely.
