Ritchie Richardson is going back to college.
The former Olivet Nazarene University softball coach with the second-most wins in National Association of Intercollegiate Association (NAIA) history has been named head coach at his alma mater, Lincoln Memorial University, according to the Middlesboro Daily News.
Richardson was the head coach at Olivet for more than 20 seasons, leading the team to 11 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular season titles and 12 tournaments. The Tigers also made it to the NAIA National Tournament 10 times during Richardson's tenure. Their highest tournament finish was third.
Richardson, who spent last season coaching at Purdue University Northwest, boasts a career 946-339-2 record, including going 917-316-1 at Olivet. He also has earned 12 CCAC Coach of the Year awards, five NAIA Region Coach of the Year honors, and has been inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.
