Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met June 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

6:00 pm Meeting called to order/Pledge

Roll call was taken, all members present

*Motion to approve previous 5/15/17 meeting minutes

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Morse Motion Carried 5-0-1 Dickson abstaining

Pres. Roth asked to amend the agenda Voice vote in favor 6-0-0

Public comments:

Jeff Daniels asked to speak in reference to dragging of the alleys. He feels it is a waste of the Villages resources to do this. He is asking for gravel to be laid down, not just regrading. No response given.

Two representatives from Com-Ed were in attendance to speak of the “Smart Meters” that will be installed to all customers in the next few months. They explained the benefits to the customer, as well as the company after they are installed.

Engineer Neil Piggush spoke of the East Side Sewer Project. The total bid came in $34,000 over the estimate. Total bid came in at $374.462.00 to be completed in August

Clerk Dillman: no report

Atty. Taylor: First reading of Resolution O-6-17-1 authorizing renewal of aggregation program for electric load.

Finance, Dickson:

*Resolution R-6-17-1 authorizing amendment to redevelopment agreement with Keith and Tiffany Brack, % date change.

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan: Gave a report on the sewer plant operations, all doing fine, at Heldt Park, about half of the Pollinator Garden has been planted. Thanked John Henson on his work on the “stump jump”. Gave a report on the Farmers Market. Mentioned the Historical Society Golf Outing this Saturday, “Driving the Dixie” on 6/17.

*Motion to approve a loan for $235,000 from Midland States Bank for the East Side Sanitary Sewer project

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Dickson Motion Carried 6-0

Building & Grounds, Morse:

*Vote to approve Central States Fireworks for the cost of $5,200

Motion: Morse 2nd: Weidl Motion Carried 6-0

*Vote to approve Friday Nights band “The After Party Band” for $2,000. A $400 deposit must be sent with a signed contract, remainder due night of performance

Motion: Morse 2nd: Weidl Motion Carried 6-0

*Vote to approve a 40x100 tent from Sunrise Tents in the amount of $1,150

Motion: Morse 2nd: Weidl Motion Carried 6-0

*Vote to approve service sanitation-9 basic portable restrooms, and 2 hand washing stations in the amount of $911.00

Next Octoberfest meeting 6/22/17 at the Village Hall

An update was given on the Library roof, it was completed in one day, total bill $5,348.12, with an estimated reimbursement of $3400 from the Insurance claim.

The Village Hall parking lot, and the Community Park lot to be resealed by our maintenance staff in June.

A “thank you” to Tom Forburger, Marc Cousin, Matt Cousin, and Todd Greenholt for volunteering their time to put the American Flags up on Route 1 for the Holiday

Ordinance & Insurance, Weidl: no report

Law Enforcement, Coats:

*Motion to authorize a lease purchase of squad car from Manteno Ford at $7,034.40 annually for 4 years.

Motion: Coats 2nd: Morse Motion Carried 6-0

Pres. Roth:

•Accept resignation of Jeff Bennett as Village TIF Adviser Voice vote approved 6-0

•Appointment of Ehlers & Assoc. as TIF Advisers Voice vote approved 6-0

•For 3 days, starting 6/19/17 the Rail crossing over Route 1 will be closed for repairs

•Smart Water alerts, can be registered with Aqua, forms in the Village Hall
