Members of an advisory council may no longer receive grant money thanks to a bill sponsored by Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) and turned into law on Aug. 22, according to a press release.
House Bill 2439 amends the Energy Efficient Building Act and applies to the Capital Development Board's Energy Code Advisory Council. That advisory council oversees energy code regulations throughout the state, either instituting new ones or regulating those already in place.
According to Parkhurst's website, before the bill was enacted, Energy Code Advisory Council members could legally use grants from the state to teach codes they had put in place.
