Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Board of Education met October 12.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
1) Introductions- No new attendees
2) Public Library Update- Not in attendance
3) Building and Community Updates
a. Team leaders shared what is going well in their buildings. Some examples include; grandparents day, workshops, transition to traditional schedule, communication with team members and administration, and new support staff members.
b. Team leaders were reminded to submit Type III data tools and SLOs in a timely manner. Next year, the Type III data tools and SLOs must be submitted to the evaluator no more than 5 days after administration of the assessment.
4) Teachers Change Lives 24/7
a. Team members were asked to share what student engagement means.
b. Team members given a description of student engagement as well as a description of anti-engagement. Student engagement is not merely participation. Student engagement includes; attention, curiosity, interest, and optimism.
5) October 20th SIP Day
a. A CIA Team Drive has been created. Team leaders should submit agendas and notes to this team drive.
b. Elementary and High School team leaders should create agendas for the October 20th SIP day. Middle School staff will be meeting with Carl Olson. High School agendas may include PSAT data review and questioning and discussion techniques. Agendas should include a 45 minute lunch.
6) Professional Work Days
a. Due to an increase in Title II funds, each teacher will be allotted one professional work day during each semester this school year.
b. Team members discussed possible uses for this time, as well as limitations due to substitute availability and other factors.
c. Procedures for requesting professional work days will be coming in the next couple of weeks.
