Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Finance Committee met Jan. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

I. Old Business

A. State Revenue Update – FRIS

The state owes the District $1,637,568 for Project Year ‘18.

B. Committee Updates

i. Technology – Web Hosting Agreement

Due to reliability issues with our current web host provider we are seeking to move to a new host.

SchoolMessenger, whom we already have a relationship with, is offering a superior product which includes a custom app that can be installed on phones. A three year contract starting 7/1/2018 is $11,443.95 which includes a one-time set up fee of $1,350. In our current contract we have paid $9,590 over the last three years.

Recommendation to approve a contract with West Interactive Services Corporation d/b/a SchoolMessenger for $11,443.95 for web hosting and custom app for a period of 3 years effective July 1, 2018.

II. New Business

A. Crop Lease

It is recommended to renew the cash crop lease on the 177 acre parcel of land. The lease rate will remain the same at $196.15 per acre for a total of $34,719. The lease dates will be March 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019.

It was recommended to approve the cash crop lease as presented.

B. Financial Profile Score

This score helps identify the financial condition of a school district. The score from FY2017 year was 3.70 which placed Manteno CUSD No.5 in Financial Recognition.
