Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Finance Committee met Feb. 27.

I. Old Business
A. State Revenue Update – FRIS
The state owes the District $1,117,112 for Project Year ‘18.
B. Committee Updates
i. Technology – Storage Area Network Replacement
The technology committee recommended either Solution A (replace everything, storage, servers, and switches at a cost not to exceed $180,000 or Solution B (replace the storage array and keep the existing servers and switches at a cost not to exceed $90,000.
It was recommended to approve to replace____________ at a cost not to exceed $_________.
C. Buildings and Grounds
i. Security Measures – Manteno Police Chief Alan Swinford
There have been numerous conversations over the last few months between district administration, the Village of Manteno, and the Manteno Police Department about the possible addition of a school resource officer. It was agreed to that if this position was approved the salary and benefits for this officer would be split between the district and the village 50/50. There would be an expectation to keep the school resource officer position for no lease than 3 years under this agreement.
It was recommended to approve the position of School Resource Officer starting in fiscal year 2019.

II. New Business
A. Bus Lease
Midwest Transit is proposing a bus lease for the 2018-2019 school year in the amount of $267,233 for 19 buses. This includes the $500 per bus ($9,000 total) early lease discount if signed by March 1st. This includes a 2 year lease agreement for our 12 Regular 72 Pass. Standard, 2 – 72 Pass. w/seat belts, and 2 – 72 Pass. w/luggage fleet. We will remain on a 1 year lease for our 2 – 53+2 Wheelchair with A/C and our 1 – 18+1 Wheelchair Pass. Type A fleet. This determination was made in conjunction with Transportation Director Ryan Diedrich. The total price increase over last year is $8,012. The increase in price is due to the increase in interest rates.
It was recommended to approve the Midwest Transit 2018-2019 bus lease as presented.
B. Milk Contract
Food Service Department recommends a contract extension through CloverLeaf Farms with no price increase over last year.
It was recommended to approve the milk contract with Cloverleaf Farms.
