Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met Feb. 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

6:00PM Meeting opened/Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all members present, Ms. Dickson arriving 6:17PM

*Motion to approve minutes from 1/02/18 previous meeting

 Motion: Morgan    2nd: Morse    Motion Carried 4-0-1   Weidl abstaining

*Motion to approve minutes from 1/16/18 previous meeting

Motion: Morgan    2nd: Weidl     Motion Carried 4-0-1    Veldhuizen abstaining

Public Comments:

Tracy Corrao representing Brownie Troop 70285, spoke to the Board, asking if the Troop could erect a “Free Little Library” someplace in the Village for their community service project. A secure location will be researched, and she will be contacted.

Bob Roviaro spoke to the Board concerning trash that seems to be coming from the Dollar General, and landing in his, and neighbor’s yards, asking for trash receptacles to be placed outside the business to hopefully help the situation. Pres. Roth and Chief Frey will speak to the manager.

Deb Morgan spoke to the Board concerning a memorial sigh to be placed in the Village, and also the idea of a service member Memorial bench to be placed for the project this spring near the Police Station.  Also shown was a proposed landscaping for the west sing on the Community Center.

Clerk Dillman sworn in James Vela as part time officer at $17/hr

Bills for Payment: 1/24/18 General Fund $400.00, 2/02/18 General Fund $19,622.55, Sewer Fund $1,971.15, M.F.T. $3,101.22, T.I.F. $187.50, Payroll 1/13/18 $16,074.93, 1/27/18 $15,462.37,

 Motion: Dickson    2nd: Morse     Motion Carried 6-0

Departmental reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Streets & Alleys, Veldhuizen:  snow plowing continues, some truck repairs have been made

Finance, Dickson: no report

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan: Treatment plant handling less water than in the past, thought is due to the east side sewer separation last fall. Feb. 15 Aqua presentation at the Community Center

Building & Grounds, Morse: Cabin Fever Reliever Feb 24th at Community Center

*Motion to replace west door at Community Center at a cost not to exceed $3500

Motion: Morse    2nd: Dickson     Motion Carried 6-0

Ordinance & Insurance, Weidl: no report

Law Enforcement, Coats: 136 calls for the month of January, Police handled appx. 400 more calls in 2017, than in 2016, partially due to other agency assists.

Pres. Roth: no report
