Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Committee met Feb. 8.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1) Introductions- No new attendees

2) Public Library Update- Not in attendance

3) Building and Community Updates

a. Team leaders shared what is going well and what will be worked on during the February 9th School Improvement time.

b. Things that are going well include; field trips, communication, grade level activities, and Title II Professional Development days.

c. Tasks for the February 9th School Improvement time include; assessment work, review of grading practices, and curriculum work.

4) Teachers Change Lives 24/7

a. Fun police are those who recognize when someone isn’t having fun at work and seek to find out why. Fun police look for ways to encourage fun at work.

b. Team leaders were encouraged to become fun police.

5) 2018-19 Calendar

a. Team leaders were given copies of the proposed 2018-2019 school calendar.

b. Concerns can be given to Cathy Creek.

6) Summer Curriculum Proposals

a. Summer curriculum proposal forms will be sent out by Cathy Creek.

b. Proposals are due by March 23rd with the exception of high school teachers who do not know which courses they are teaching at that time.

c. Professional Development will be provided for the new Elementary math curriculum. Teachers should not submit summer curriculum proposals for this work.

7) Upcoming Assessments

a. PARCC testing will begin on April 9th.

b. DLM testing may begin on March 14th.

c. The Illinois Science Assessment will be given on April 24th.

d. The PSAT/SAT will take place on April 10th.
