Manteno Community Unit School District 5 Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment Committee met April 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

1) Introductions- No new attendees

2) Public Library Update

a. On April 24th, the Friends of the Manteno Public Library will hold a fundraiser at Chipotle from 4:00-8:00.

b. On April 27th, the library will be closed for maintenance.

c. Quail eggs have arrived and should hatch the first week of May.

3) Building and Community Updates/Planning for 2018-2019

a. The Elementary School staff is piloting a new math series, holding transition meetings for special education students, hosting Pre-K screenings, and completing PARCC testing. In planning for next year, the staff would like continued time to work together and prepare for changes.

b. The Middle School is completing PARCC testing. The 8th grade students will be attending a Career Day at KCC. Additionally, the teachers are utilizing and appreciating the Title II work days.

c. The High School is looking at textbook adoption for Chemistry. They recently completed PSAT and SAT testing. They are also preparing for the District Art Show. In planning for the 2018-2019 school year, the staff would like to continue the consideration of 1:1 and look at the possibility of updating some shop equipment.

4) Teachers Change Lives 24/7- None

5) April 27th Schedule

a. Each building will have a three hour training from the Kankakee County ERT, 2 hours of team time, a 1 hour lunch, and a 45 minute presentation on Flexible Spending Accounts.

b. Additional activities may include a Eureka Math Webinar and a review of evaluation rubrics for support staff.

c. Please get agendas to Cathy Creek by April 20th.
