Report: Bourbonnais spent $9,291 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Bourbonnais Elementary School District No. 53 is up 9 percent from five years ago, according to a Kankakee Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Kankakee County school district spent $8,543 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,291 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2507 to 2397.

Bourbonnais's spending in 2016-17 was 28 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
