Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met April 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018.

Present: Bayer, Fisher, Grace, Richardson, Rodgers, and Hendrickson

Absent: Benoit

Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary

President Bayer appointed Trustee Rodgers as Acting Secretary.

Director’s Report - [copy attached hereto]

54 new readers were registered and 8,916 items were issued in March.

Receipts: $448.99 fines on overdue books - $282.00 – fax - $901.75 – copies – $280.00 – fee cards – $30.00 – lost/damaged - $275.00 – room rental -$100.00 – donation – 113.00 - other.

Expenses: $40.54

Director DePatis stated the following:

Continuing Education:

Betty Chapman, Olivia Koerner, Ranea Bruce, and Director DePatis attended a workshop at Naperville Public Library on March 27th entitled “Guerilla Branding: Making Your Library Indispensable.

Ranae Bruce completed a 4 week online course (Fed 26th thru March 23rd) from American Library Association entitled “Creating Early Literary Programs: Connecting with Early Childhood Development.”

Director DePatis attended a Management Association workshop on performance evaluation at the LaSalle Public Library on April 17th.

Grants:

Completed fiscal year 2018-19 erate 471 form to request a discount on public internet services and a signed 3 year contract with ComCast for staff internet with a bandwidth increase from 10mbs to 50 mbps. If the discount is approved, it will be a savings of 80%.

Awarded fiscal year 2018 per capita grant of $16,618.75. Full funding of $1.25 per capita was awarded this year.

Awarded a fiscal year 2018 LSTA grant for $4,999 through the Illinois State Library for “Classroom Research Support.” The grant will buy 1 thru 3 grade level books on topics often requested by teachers.

Personnel:

Purchased a new time clock that uses electronic badges which calculates both time and benefit time. Favorable reviews by the employees.

Ranae Bruce has been promoted to Youth Services Co-ordinator.

Allison Orvis as a part time Youth Services Assistant.

Taking applications for 2 page positions to replace current pages who are leaving for college.

Training and setup is scheduled for May 7th with further training on May 8th for IdentoGo. On May 9th, the Bradley Public Library will go live as an IndentoGo provider.

Committee Reports:

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library met on April 4, 2018. The Friends of the Library will continue to sell a savings pass for $10.00 with $5.00 of each sale remaining with the friends. A $1,000.00 was given to the library for items needed for the Summer Reading program. Next scheduled meeting will be May 3, 2018 at 6:30PM.

Unfinished Business:

Director DePatis reminded trustees to complete their economic interest statements.

IdentoGo fingerprinting agreements have been signed. Director DePatis, Olivia, Marie and Betty have all been approved for the IdentoGo program. Training and setup will take place on May 7th and 8th with the program going live on May 9th.

New Business:

Director DePatis distributed a copy of the tax computation report to each trustee. Bradley Public Library received everything that they asked for which will result in an increase of $35,000.00 over last year.

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Grace to dispose of the 2 display cases at a cost of $350.00 each or best offer.

Motion carried by unanimous vote

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Fisher to go into Executive Session at 6:28PM for the purpose of discussing an employee matter.

Motion carried by roll call vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays and 1 absent

President Bayer declared the Executive session to be concluded at 7:18 pm

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to have the write up remain in the employee personnel file

Motion carried by roll call vote of 4 ayes, 2 nays and 1 absent

Communications: None

Trustee Hendrickson moved for adjournment at 7:20 pm
