Olivet Nazarene University Tigers Football issued the following announcement on June 20.

From June 4 through June 20, the Olivet Nazarene University Men's Basketball team, head coach Ralph Hodge and assistant coach Nick Birkey hosted three weeks of individual skills camps and two high school shootouts. Each of the camps was held on campus using McHie Arena, Birchard Gymnasium, and the Perry Student Life and Recreation Center (SLRC).

During three weeks of individual camps, the Tiger coaches had the opportunity to work with over 200 campers (ages six to college-age), equaling the largest turnout in over a decade. In addition, all current and incoming ONU men's basketball student-athletes were on campus participating and helping with the Overnight Skills Prospect Camp (June 17-20). Each camp incorporated teaching, including explanation of terminology, warm-up, demonstration, drills, practice situations, individual instruction, 1-on-1, 3-on-3 and the annual exciting dunk contest. Throughout each camp, the ONU coaching staff took time each day to talk about NAIA's Five Core Character Values through its Champions of Character initiative. They also emphasized the importance of teamwork, sacrifice within a team concept and integrated faith. Campers also had the opportunity to stay in Parrott Hall, eat meals in Ludwig Center, and swim each night in the Perry SLRC's aquatic center.

The men's basketball team also held two round-robin style shootouts for high school players, featuring teams from central Illinois, the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area and Chicagoland. This summer, 48 high school teams, equaling the most participants ever, — including more than 600 athletes and coaches — played at least five games in ONU's Perry SLRC Fieldhouse and were given the opportunity to stay on campus. 14 local programs took advantage of the shootouts: Bishop McNamara, Bradley-Bourbonnais, , Cissna Park, Grace Christian Academy, Grant Park, Herscher, Illinois Lutheran, Kankakee (Sr.), Kankakee Trinity Academy, Milford, Momence, Peotone, Reed-Custer and Wilmington.

Information about the 2019 ONU Men's Basketball Summer Camps will be released online in early spring 2019.
