Momence Fire Protection District responded to 143 calls in 2017 - 13.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Momence included 74 fires - 42 structure fires, four vehicle fires and 28 other fires.

In all, the department saw $397,000 in fire loss - or about $5,365 per fire.

The department also received 69 false calls.

The Momence Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $252,066 in 2017.
