Momence City Council met July 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 2, 2018 council meeting.

Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, and Temple voting yes. Alderman Cope passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting. Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM

1. Main Street Momence – Update action plans for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. Annual meeting/awards banquet. 70 cars at the last cruise night, many cars owned by veterans. Glad Fest window. Assisting with Glad Fest for the window decorating contest. Bordertown Hauntings will be the 4th Saturday in October and Downtown Christmas Gathering will be December 1.

2. Tyrone Campbell – Request spot in Pine Street Parking Lot for Glad Fest for all 4 days of Festival Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

3. Doreen Anderson – Squeels on Wheels Pine Street Parking Lot – Alderman Cook made a motion to approve, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

4. Marleen Bidell – requesting street be blocked off August 25 for a fundraiser at Off the Vine. Washington Street from Locust to the alley from 5 P.M. to 11:30 P.M. for the band. Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS

1. Jake Salomone - Discuss and Vote on 2018-2019 Budget, BF meeting August 6 7:15 pm.

Total Budget $3640500.00, around 600,000.00 decrease this year. Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the 2018-2019 budget, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

2. Nova – looking for a police officer to lead the first lap of the Lions club run.

3. Cope – schedule an ordinance meeting August 6, 6:45pm

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Scott – jetting/camering pipes seems to be in good shape.

Treasurer report – Bond and interest is at Municipal. All CDS have been located and named.

MAYORAL REPORT

Zoning Board of Appeals was incorrectly listed in the paper as the Planning Commission, need to open up the meeting as the Zoning Board of Appeals per city attorney.

Mayor requested executive session to possibly come out to do business in the matter of property sale price. Alderman Rehmer made motion to go into executive session. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Exited Council meeting 8:00 PM:

Returned from executive session at 8:31PM.

Alderman Metz made motion to re-enter regular session, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Alderman Rehmer made a motion to authorize Chief Brucato to conduct labor negotiations with collective bargaining with the policeman’s union on behalf of the city. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone,

Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Alderman Metz made motion to adjourn, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook and Temple voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:31 P.M.
