Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School District 307 students suspended 1,049 times in a single school year

Bradley Bourbonnais Community High School District 307 reported 1,049 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The district transferred one students to another program instead of suspending or expelling them.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 1,049 students during the year. That equates to 50.6 percent of the 2,072 students enrolled.

Of the 970 in-school suspensions, 603 were given to boys and 367 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 961 incidents. There were six incidents of drugs. For 909 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 79 out-of-school suspensions, 50 were given to boys and 29 were given to girls, all of whom were high schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes 27 incidents. There were 26 incidents of unspecified reasons. For 33 incidents, students were suspended for 3-5 days.
