The Office of Kankakee County Sheriff issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.
Sheriff Mike Downey presented Corporal T. Huntley with a letter of commendation yesterday for going above and beyond the call of duty. Earlier last week, the Sheriff's Office received a private message indicating that Cpl. Huntley assisted a stranded motorist (from the Chicago area) and her family on Interstate 57. The stranded motorist explained that Cpl. Huntley, after spending a great deal of time attempting to help her change her tire, went home at the conclusion of his shift to retrieve the necessary tools to get her on her way. After returning home to grab his tools, Cpl. Huntley returned to the scene (on his own time) and assisted the stranded motorist (and her family).
Corporal Huntley's efforts are truly appreciated and we commend him for taking the extra time. We also thank the stranded motorist for bringing the incident to our attention. There are often times, significant acts of kindness and extraordinary efforts of law enforcement go unrecognized. Keep up the good work Corporal!
