Robin Kelly, a U.S. Congress member representing Illinois' 2nd district since 2013, recently addressed various social issues through her Twitter account. Known for her active engagement in public discourse, Kelly has served in the U.S. Congress following her tenure in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.

On June 17, 2025, Kelly commemorated the survivors and victims of the Emanuel AME Church shooting that occurred ten years ago. She stated: "Gun violence steals lives, a community’s sense of safety, and all the milestones a loved one should’ve been a part of." Her reflection emphasized the enduring impact of gun violence on communities.

Two days later, on June 19, she expressed concerns about several pressing societal issues. In her tweet she mentioned: "Our healthcare is on the chopping block, costs of living are too high, gun violence kills far too many..." This statement was made in observance of Juneteenth and highlighted various forms of injustice affecting society.

On June 20, Kelly criticized proposed healthcare legislation associated with former President Trump. She described it as "deadly," warning that it would negatively affect access to healthcare services. Her post read: "Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill is deadly. It will rip away people’s healthcare..." During this period, she joined healthcare providers and officials at Blue Island Health Center to oppose cuts to Medicaid.

Robin Kelly was born in New York City in 1956 and currently resides in Matteson. She graduated from Bradley University with a BA in 1977.
