Statewide test results: 44 percent of Mark Twain Primary failed English language arts
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, is administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards.
According to Mark Twain Primary School English language scores, about 56 percent met expectations and none exceeded them. Students whose results are in either category are considered to be most ready to move on to the next level and are most prepared for college or work.
Another 28 percent approached expectations, while 17 percent partially met expectations and none did not meet them. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.
Test results at Mark Twain Primary School, which enrolled 330 students in 2018, surpassed state averages.
Statewide, 37 percent of students passed the test and 63 percent failed.
Of students statewide who passed, only six percent 'exceeded' expectations.
