Report: St. George spent $8,316 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at St. George Community Consolidated School District 258 is up 8.1 percent from five years ago, according to a Kankakee Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Kankakee County school district spent $7,693 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,316 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 476 to 447.

St. George's spending in 2017-18 was 37.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
