The data shows that 17 men and one women were released in Kankakee. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 37. The youngest parolee is a 20-year-old man sentenced for crimes involving one or more weapons in 2017, and the oldest is a 60-year-old man sentenced for financial crimes or fraud in 2016.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest is Jerome Brewer. He was convicted of property crimes in 2010 when he was 44 years old. He is now 53.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
