City of Momence City Council met Sept. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 2, 2019 council meeting with an amendment to the BF minutes to include general fund. Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting.

Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM – Hayden Kutemeier Request for helmet drive for Momence firefighter. 09/21/19 on second/Dixie and River/Dixie and Rt 17/Dixie from 8am – noon. Alderman Metz made a motion to approve, Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Salomone - Census, Momence is now registered with the state. He will be meeting with Larry to discuss timelines, etc.

Alderman Cope – safety of the crosswalks – has come across an idea of a sign for the cross walks.

She will look further into and contact the state to see what the next steps would be.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS - Alderman Cope – concerned with the sidewalks that are broken, would like to look into the budget to see what is available. Mayor suggested making a list of the broken sidewalks for Scott.

Alderman Salomone – Budget and Finance meeting October 7, 7:15 PM

Alderman Rehmer made a request for executive session to possibly come out to do business to discuss employment.

Treasurer report – We received 2 checks from MFT, we will start receiving those each month.

Department Heads –

MAYORAL REPORT - thank you to Jenene Henson for all her services.

Mayor requested a motion to move into executive session, Alderman Rehmer made a motion to move into executive session, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Alderman Rehmer made a motion to approve the hiring of Matthew Monferdinni to replace Officer Reel.

Matthew will start on September 30. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.
